How Does a Rising Stem Gate Valve Work?
The Rising Stem Gate Valve works on the principle of Outside Screw and Yoke (OS&Y) design where turning of the handwheel/actuator results in vertical movement of the stem which raises the wedge up from the flow line when the valve is being opened and presses the same to the seating ring when the valve is being closed. The Rising stem design allows for easy visibility of the valve position. Full bore design helps in reducing the pressure drop while flexible design of the wedge assures reliable shut off regardless of changes in pressures and temperatures.
