Pilot Operated Safety Valve Operating Principle:

A Pilot Operated Safety Valve uses system pressure and an external pilot valve to control the opening and closing of the main valve. The pilot sustains pressure in the control chamber during regular operation, which maintains the primary valve securely sealed until the predetermined pressure is attained.

Excess pressure can be quickly released by the main valve opening as the pilot releases pressure from the control chamber when the system pressure exceeds the predetermined value. The main valve is reseated firmly for reliable overpressure protection after normal operating pressure is restored, allowing the pilot to shut automatically.
