How Does a Trunnion Ball Valve Work?
A Trunnion Ball Valve uses a ball that is held mechanically by upper and lower trunnions to prevent any movements caused by line pressure. During its operation, the ball turns 90 degrees such that the bore aligns with the pipeline for the flow of media or is set at right angles to cut off media from flowing inside the pipeline altogether. With the ball held stationary, any pressures are put on the valve body and not the seats.
This type of valve is known to provide reliable shut-off, efficient seal and operate under high pressure conditions.
